"My son, Chase and I, would like to thank you for such an amazing hunting experience. I know neither of us will ever forget it! The hunt went better than I could of imagined. Everything from placement in the stand, to tracking and chasing, to tagging a trophy, was all conducted with professionalism and safety in mind! My only regret is that we could not stay longer. But, we do look forward to coming back for a longer stay. Hats off to all the guys at M.B.O. , you really have something to be proud of!" Chris & Chase Hampson - Springfield, Illinois
I wanted to thank your whole family for a great weekend and awesome turkey hunt! My first turkey hunt was great and it was because of your family's friendly hospitality and warm welcome that made it even better. Brad was an excellent guide with not only tremendous knowledge of the local birds but also a great teacher of turkey hunting. I know I have been spoiled with my first turkey experience but look forward to future hunts at Muscooten Bay! Pat McEniry Chicago, IL
This past November I hunted with Muscooten Bay Outfitters. The weather was not great but these guys know their deer and land, so they know where to put you. I killed a 133" 10 pt. on the third day, and saw a bunch of deer and turkeys, including a 150" 10 pt. on the fourth day. I should've waited! I had a great time in the stand and at the clubhouse. These are great people. I felt like I had hunted with these guys all my life. I'm looking forward to going back next year! Bernard Pelz - Georgia
For the past couple deer seasons I spent my money on an Illinois tag, hunting with the Hobrocks of Muscooten Bay Outfitters, in one of the best kept secrets of Illinois(CASS COUNTY). I've had the pleasure of sitting in their stands, while seeing thousands of turkeys and a lot of deer. I haven't spent a day where I didn't see a harvest able deer, and on a few occasions seen the type of deer that took my breath away and made my palms sweaty. The 2005 season was no different. Under the guidance of Mark and Brad, I sat 3 times in an amazing stand seeing hundreds of deer and turkey, passing on several that later, left me doubting my decisions. After a morning of watching a field full of does and viewing several 130-160 inch deer, an awesome 185 5/8, 11 point hog worked his way into range. The picture tells the rest of the story. I already reserved my 2006 hunt hoping to get a chance at one of the other monsters. Seeing and harvesting these type of whitetails on a consistent basis is "NO ACCIDENT". Mark, Brad, and Butch have this down to a science. From patterning these deer to having trail cam proof. MBO has it going on. For a whitetail hunt of a lifetime these boys are my #1 Illinois stop. Thanks again guys, Brian Lewis - Missouri
Letters to the Editor Dear Editor, I am not writing as pro-gun or pro-hunting as I understand these are not for everybody and are against some people’s beliefs. I am writing to promote activities for some children. Some families are hunting and fishing families, familiar with the outdoors. Due to lifestyles and schedules, it is impossible to take their children hunting and fishing. This week I was introduced to an alternative. My son had a Spring Youth Hunt Turkey Tag and I did not have the time off to take him hunting. My son was fortunate enough to be able to hunt with Muscooten Bay Outfitters. This is an alternative for busy people. This is also an alternative for adults who do not have access to their own locations to hunt. Of course there is a fee, it is a business. But they have the equipment, locations and do all the scouting making it easier and less time consuming for the outdoorsman. Safety was their first concern. After safety it was all about the hunter. They have great accommodations and are very professional people. So if your child or someone in your family wants to hunt and does not have access to land or to adult supervision, try an outfitter. Sincerely, Richard Zillion - Beardstown, IL
Thanks again for a great hunting experience. Nicholas and I truly enjoyed learning how to call and hunt wild turkeys. Your team is the best. We look forward to having the privilege to hunt with you and your family again. You have a first class operation that delivers the best. Daniel Nasharr - St. Charles, IL
2007 was my 2nd year hunting w/ Muscooten Bay Outfitters. I have been fortunate enough to take my largest and second largest archery bucks ever hunting w/ MBO. They have some beautiful hunting land and some really big bucks. These guys really know their deer herd and the habits of these deer. When Butch and the boys recommend a certain stand you would be wise to heed their advice. While hunting in Nov of '07 I saw one possible gross Booner and several other bucks in the 150-160" range. The hunting is only half of the experience while staying w/ MBO. The hospitality the Hobrock family extends to their hunters is second to noe. I feel like a family member instead of a paying customer. Butch and his family will be valued life long friends and I look forward to many years of hunting w/ them. David S. Medders - Douglas, GA
